  • A hospital in California is looking for an experienced MedSurg/Tele nurse for a travel contract.
    • Job Requirements
    • The right candidate will have 2 full years of experience.
    • Hold active BLS, ACLS, and NIH certifications.
    • An active CA License.
      • Schedule Information
      • 12-hour shifts, 7 to 7:30, strict attendance.
      • AM huddle.
      • Block scheduling is not guaranteed.
      • 4 shifts out of 4-week schedule required on weekends.
      • Travelers are the first to float.
      • Variety in patient assignment ratios.
        • Unit Specific Information
        • 39 Beds including 37 private rooms and 1 semi-private room.
        • Patient ratios vary, with the possibility of mixed MedSurg and Tele patients.
        • Float to any MedSurg/Tele or ICU for MedSurg patients if no beds available.
        • Floor-specific orientation varies based on Cerner experience.
        • Common diagnosis includes General MedSurg patients, bariatrics, total joint replacements, CVA patients, and others.
        • Floor staff expected to adhere to Heparin & hyperglycemia protocols and manage drug withdrawal patients.
          • Additional Details
          • CERNER experience preferred.
          • Charge Nurse and Nurse Aides presence variable based on the census.
          • Travelers expected to work into the perm staff holiday rotation schedule.
          • Navy blue scrub color required.
          • Travelers must be able to read & interpret all cardiac rhythms.
          • Cpap or Bipap vents available (managed by RT).
          • Availability of Hospitalist or Intensivist in-house, with on-call after hours.
          • No designated IV Team.
          • RT and Pharmacy available 24/7.
