DEPARTMENT:The Bronco Leadership Center is housed within the
Division of Student Affairs (DSA) and reports to the Associate Vice
President, Student Experience. Utilizing a strengths-based
framework, the Bronco Leadership Center is a central space for
students to receive transformational leadership development and
experiences, facilitating the successful navigation of campus life.
The Bronco Leadership Center nurtures a sense of belonging through
clubs and organizations, fraternity and sorority life, job location
and development, and student life activities, fostering community
and inclusivity.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Department
Administration and Leadership
- Direct the vision, goal setting, and strategic planning of the
office; Foster positive relationships with students, faculty,
staff, alumni, and the broader community to strengthen the scope
and reach of the center.
- Manage day to day operations of the following areas and
initiatives: PolyStrengths, Bronco Leadership Lab, Clubs and
Organizations, Fraternity and Sorority Life, Campus Engagement and
Leadership Programming, Job Location and Development, and Event
Planning through the supervision of staff, facilities management,
budget administration, report preparation.
- Design and implement culturally relevant programs, trainings,
initiatives, and events that support transformative leadership
experiences for CPP students.
- Oversee student club/org compliance of policies and
procedures.
- Create and update annually the Club and Organization Guidebook
and mandatory training platform.
- Oversee the BLC club and organization "Report and Issue"
website.
- Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with key
stakeholders across divisions, promoting trust, collaboration, and
shared accountability.
- Regularly communicate updates, and challenges of student
clubs/orgs and trends to campus stakeholders, keeping them informed
and engaged.
- Handle sensitive and confidential information with utmost
discretion and integrity.Cluster, Cross-Divisional, and Campus-Wide
Partnerships
- Foster cluster, cross-divisional, and campus-wide partnerships
to enhance student engagement and leadership experiences, across
the student lifecycle.
- Ensure all BLC areas and initiatives provide culturally
relevant academic, personal, and career related services.
- Provide oversight in the development, administration,
assessment, and evaluation of a comprehensive array of short and
long-term programs, initiatives, and services in accordance with
divisional and the university's strategic priorities.First
Amendment, Time, Place and Manner and Student Expression Oversight
- Serve as the Designated University Law Enforcement Liaison
between the University law enforcement and students exercising
rights guaranteed by the First Amendment.
- Serve as a member of the University Response Team for matters
related to implementation and enforcement of Time, Place, and
Manner Policy and Addendum.
- Ensure compliance of TPM Policy and monitor student speech and
expression activities on campus.
- Manage access to and use of University Property as set forth in
the CPP Campus Addendum.
- Develop and deliver training sessions or workshops to educate
the division and campus community on Time, Place, and Manner policy
and Freedom of Speech.Other Duties as Assigned
- Stay abreast of current literature, ongoing trends, demographic
changes, laws and policies that impact staff and faculty.
- Continually assess student needs and interests, as well as
remain current with best practices, student engagement, leadership
development models in the field of student affairs as it relates to
identity development, student behavior; utilize relevant data,
scholarship, and student development theories/models in planning
and developing programs and services designed to actively foster
student learning and promote students' holistic success.
- Capacity to research and identify current issues in higher
education both locally and nationally; awareness and insight into
emerging issues (first amendment, freedom of speech, student
development, etc.).
- Ensure staff have a professional development plan that
incorporates and encourages best practices.
- Participate in local, regional and national research and
conduct presentations pertinent to job functionality.
- Attend conferences and professional institutes to stay relevant
and build a professional network that enhances the potential for
innovation at CPP.
- Serve on divisional and campus-wide committees representing the
office and division; advocate for the center; respond to the needs
of the campus community as needed in times of crisis.
- Complete relevant additional duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's Degree - preferably in student affairs, higher
education administration, college student personnel, social work,
counseling, or a related field.
- A minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in
leadership and engagement management, multicultural student affairs
or other comparable collegiate or community-based setting.
- An understanding and deep commitment to social justice,
demonstrated cultural competence with strong belief in the value of
diversity, anti-racism, and student-readiness in enriching the
learning experience and the quality of life on campus.
- Compassionate, accessible, transparent, ethical leader with
excellent communication skills to clearly articulate vision,
direction and purpose and earn the respect and confidence of the
faculty, staff, students, and family members/supporters.
- A strong systems thinker with the ability to assist the
department in a pro-active approach to upcoming trends, issues, and
needs.
- Ability to effectively manage daily activities and operations
while always being cognizant of the larger issues impacting higher
education on a regional, state, and national level.
- A proven record of implementing change, establishing a vision
and direction for the department, motivating staff and students to
embrace change, and successfully creating new programs and
initiatives to enhance the quality of campus life for all
students.
- Demonstrated leadership ability with excellent management
skills; the ability to manage feedback with constructive action and
build a solid framework to effectively develop and manage a
complex, student ready unit.
- Understanding and appreciation of how academic affairs and
student affairs intersect to provide a holistic experience for
students.
- Strong community builder and collaborator, capable of building
bridges to departments, faculty, staff, students, and the larger
community.
- Skilled in the collection of data and ability to analyze and
make educated decisions.
- Committed to continuing a student-centered approach to learning
and engagement throughout the department's programs and
services.
- Credible, engaging, supportive, empathetic, and approachable
supervisor with knowledge of the responsibilities of each staff
member's position, respect for their work and contributions, and
adept at advocating for staff and students, their programs, and
needs.
- Commitment to using best practices, technology, and innovation
to continually provide students with cutting-edge programs and
services.
- Strong supervisory experience with a proven ability to engage
in identity specific supervision, mediate conflicts, and make tough
decisions when necessary.PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Doctorate degree, preferably in student affairs, higher
education administration, college student personnel, social work,
counseling, or a related field.
- Clifton Strength's coach certification.
- Experience managing staff and skilled professionals in a
university environment.
- Experience in a larger, complex and diverse public higher
